Biddeford Mills Woman's Work Shoes

Pair of black womens boots, button up with heels. The shoes appear well worn and have 15 buttons on each side of the shoes. One button is not attached on the left shoe, but was included in the shoe itself. An ivory handled button hook was also found in one of the shoes to attach the buttons. ( see 2021.02.02.02)

Black Derby Hat

Men's round topped black derby hat surrounded by a black ribbon. Sides are slightly tipped up. Inside has a brown lining and top is black with maker's mark inscription and it has an inscription on the inside band, "Chas A. Benoit Clothier Biddeford, ME"

Bow Tie

Black bow tie for men, with metal clips on the back.

Shoe Button Hook

This tool, known as a button hook was used to fasten button-up shoes. It has a small metal hook on a white ivory handle. This was found inside a pair of womens button up shoes. (see 2021.02.02.01)

Straw hat, mens

Men's straw hat with wide flat brim. The band is a navy ribbon with a red line in the center and a bow. It has a flat top The sweatband on the inside has an inscription on it.
