As part of Biddeford 250 and America 250, the Voices and Visions Lecture Series will take place throughout the year 

This lecture series explores the many histories that shaped the United States, from Indigenous presence and precolonial life to revolution, community, and change. Through archaeology, scholarship, and local perspectives, the Biddeford Cultural and Heritage Center invites the public to reflect on 250 years of history in context.

Join us at McArthur Library as author Dan Dutcher, discusses Irish Immigration in Biddeford between 1855 and 1890. 

Much is made of the Franco-Americans in the community, but the Irish were here first. Learn first hand of their contributions and life in Biddeford.

From Lafayette Cake and ale to burgers and a cold beer, Mainers have celebrated Independence Day with festive food. Drawing on Maine diaries, letters, and newspaper accounts, we’ll explore the mouth-watering history of Fourth of July food. We will also feature a “variety of Delicious Cakes.”
