Shoe Button Hook

This tool, known as a button hook was used to fasten button-up shoes. It has a small metal hook on a white ivory handle. This was found inside a pair of womens button up shoes. (see 2021.02.02.01)

Used to pull buttons through tight button holes on women's shoes/boots in the late 1800s to early 1900s. . They were also used with gloves and other clothing.

Found in a pair of woman's mill worker shoes/boots that were manufactured and worn in Biddeford, ME. This tool, a button hook, was found inside one shoe.
