This was part of a china set belonging to Bella Cowan.

Artist Armand Painchaud was asked by the owner of Sams Place, which carried a small art supply department in the store, if he could copy the scene from the family's china pattern (Silver Birch by Royal Albert). Mr Painchaud said "yes," and this is the dish used for the painting which Mr Painchaud then gave to the Cowan family. See also

Royal Albert

20th Century

Royal Albert's Silver Birch pattern was primarily produced in England from the 1930s to 2001, though some sources indicate a more specific production run from 1975 to 1997. The fine bone china, featuring gray bands, birch trees, and flowers, was sold throughout these periods until it was officially discontinued.
