In 1862, little black autograph books (often called albums) were popular, sentimental items used to collect signatures, poems, drawings, and small sketches from friends, family, and classmates to commemorate friendships and special moments, acting as a 19th-century equivalent of a yearbook or social media.
This photograph album was purchased by the organization and contains several small photographs of people along with their original signatures and sentiments. They include people from Biddeford, Saco, Goose Rocks, Kennebunk and surrounding areas.
