Michael S. Reilly was born in Portland, Maine and grew up in Biddeford. He was the son of Edward M. Reilly and Rita ( Sullivan) Reilly and the grandson of Edward S. Reilly, one of the founders of Reilly’s Bakery,  which was started in 1911 on Main Street in Biddeford. Reilly’s Bakery has been reported to be one of the oldest (if not the oldest non bank) establishments in the City of Biddeford.

Proud of his Irish heritage and the family business, Reilly’s Bakery, which has always been a major part of his life,  Michael talks of what it was like growing up in the business over the years, memories of Main Street, school, family and home life, which were all so important to him.

Retiring after many years as a proud business owner and baker in the City, he discussed his hopes and dreams for the future and the importance of small businesses.

“There are still some small businesses in the United States and it’s the backbone of the community and people in here are working very hard to make them happy.”
